Carl Lybäck the real hero of nowadays

Carl Lybäck is an orthopedic doctor, trauma surgeon, and sports injury specialist. From the very first days of the war, Carl Lybäck, without hesitation, purchased medical equipment, supplies, ambulance vehicles, and delivered all these to Ukraine himself in order to support the Ukrainian people.

In the most difficult times, Carl Lybäck stood side by side with Ukrainian doctors: exchanging experiences, knowledge, skills, and providing incredible support! Behind him was the team of his private clinic Lääkärikeskus Fenix (Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Finland), who understood Carl's decision and supported him in such a difficult choice. While Carl stayed in Ukraine, the clinic continued its usual rhythm of work and awaited the return of its co-founder. During the war, everyone can take steps towards Victory, and people like Carl Lybäck today are a reflection of today's heroism!

I bow low and thank the Hero!

 Podcast:

Alla Korolevska: Do you have patients from Finland who were injured in Ukraine?

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Do you talk about one patient now? I don't know how many did you have in Ukraine, maybe here, maybe for recovering. Yeah, I have, of course, had there and next week, for example, I'm going to operate on one Finnish volunteer soldier who I have known since the beginning of the war. When I left there and met them, he had another injury. Also, I got a bullet, a bigger caliber bullet, you know, the ankle, but he's back fighting for Ukraine and now he stands with Ukraine.

Alla Korolevska: Yeah, it was a big surprise for me how it could be that the foreigners could be so brave to visit another country to find the truth, to be together with truth, and it is something unbelievable. It is great for me, and you were for me like a real soldier, like this real hero, but you are not from some TVs, from cinema, from cartoons. You are in our life, and I'm very happy about it. Thank you for your support. I can tell as a Ukrainian person that it is very important just even to know that somebody would like to take care of us, would like to support us. It is really important.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yeah, unfortunately, I can't tell how many Finnish volunteers there are at the moment, most are soldiers, but also others. But I think many of the watchers would be surprised.

Alla Korolevska: I was surprised when I knew it for the first time, and it is at the moment. I know the volunteer soldiers officers who are still continuing to be a soldier on the line zero even from the first day till today. And of course, it is a terrible place, but still, they are in front of this enemy, and as for me, it is very cool, and I am very thankful for these people. I'm really very open for them, and I am not alone. Every Ukrainian person will tell the same.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yeah, that is something now. It's gone over two years. When I left there, I had a plan to live there again, but then I got my old surgery. So basically, I have every day these two years did a small share of my first one and a half years after I left. Ok, I was a consult every day, night. There wasn't a free day if someone called me for a consultation, yeah, from the front line, or a hospital, or from whatever it was. It was quite many places that somehow took contact with me and wanted my advice.

Alla Korolevska: But it is very cool, and you are a very open person, especially for such cases, because not every doctor will answer after, for example, 6:00 in the evening.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yeah,

Alla Korolevska: I know. It is super,

Dr. Carl Lybäck: yeah.

Alla Korolevska: How do you have the time for yourself?

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yeah, well, then when I had the one and a half years, 24/7, 365 working, same at the same I'm doing my normal work, and then also all the other humanitarian work I do, and the same thing also. So, then I decided, that okay, now I have to live the nights alone because I need to sleep sometimes.

Alla Korolevska: Sometimes it's necessary, these are basic necessities.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yeah, it is, but when you are so focused on something and want to help and know the reality there, it took... probably it would have been wise to after one year already have a three months break or so, but there were so many projects. For example, this one where we evacuate outside the country from Ukraine to Finland, for example. If a Finnish volunteer gets hurt, then I have this protocol on how we will take care of it. We have actually talked about it sometimes.

Alla Korolevska: Yes, we had this experience. It is a long bureaucratic procedure, but anyway, two countries, two different laws, and of course, it takes time just even to understand which step-by-step issues we need to perform.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yes, but now it's not more so complicated

Alla Korolevska: Because we had experience with that.

Dr. Carl Lybäck: Yes,

Alla Korolevska: It will be much better to not have such experience, to have a peaceful life for every country, not just for Ukraine for sure. I want one more time to say thank you. Give me hugs. Thank you so much for your support. I hope you will proceed with your ideas and you will come back to a peaceful Ukraine to proceed with your research, maybe some scientific project, maybe just to teach other doctors, depending on the situation. Your wish. Thank you one more time. It was my project. Ukraine is for Ukrainians and Ukrainians are for Ukraine. And Carl Lybäck, one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the whole world. Thank you very much!
